Indian Model caught in Mumbai Sex Racket

A 24-year-old Indian model was arrested in Mumbai for running a prostitution ring. Her clients reportedly include known faces from businesses and Bollywood.

The police in Mumbai arrested a 24-year-old model in Versova on June 26, 2016, for running a prostitution racket.

Rekha Vaishnav was in charge of a production house called ‘VR Entertainment’.

She used that as a front to coax young models and actors into working for her, with the promise of a career in Bollywood.

Then, she made them take nude photo shoots and send them to her customers through WhatsApp for price enquiry.

The police busted Vaishnav’s sex racket after receiving a tip from a non-profit organisation.

James Varghese, the president of Indian Rescue Mission, said: “In an apartment located near Lokhandwala Circle, the pimp, a lady, owned a production house named VR Entertainment Event and Production.

“The firm used to lure aspiring models and actors to come and get a break in Bollywood.

“The victims were later asked to work as a Commercial Sex Worker after which half of the money earned was taken by the pimp herself.”

A special squad pretended to be customers. Upon confirmation of the illegal matter, they raided the apartment, arrested Vaishnav and rescued two girls.

IBTimes India quotes a source from Versova’s police station as saying: “After we were approached by the NGO, we laid a trap to nab the woman and her associates.

“We posed as customers, and they were ready to provided two girls for sexual enjoyment in lieu of payment to the girls, out of which they had taken a cut of the commission.”

They have also confirmed that her client list consists of many high-profile names.

DS Patil, a police inspector, indicates some of these are working in Bollywood.
He says:

“We have recovered more than 100 photos of different models, and most of them are from outside Mumbai (like Gujarat and Delhi).

“The arrested model was earning good money from them. Most businessmen and known faces from Bollywood were in touch with her, it has been found in the investigation.”

Rekha Vaishnav, who has acted in some low budget Bollywood movies before, has been charged under the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act.

A similar incident happened in Goa just a few weeks earlier. In mid-June 2016, the police raided a building Ribandar and took down a prostitution ring.

During its four-year operation, the Goan sex racket has supplied numerous actors and models for well-known figures in politics and businesses at a charge of up to Rs 20 lakh (£22,000).
